How to Install the Solar Panel Safely?

Solar panel come in various sizes to satisfy a full range of applications. Each Solar panel is made of crystalline-silicon cells. To protect the cells from the most severe-environmental conditions, Solar panel are made of high transmission rate and low iron tempered glass, anti-aging encapsulation material, and high climate resistant and insulation back sheet by hot lamination, with anodized aluminum alloy frame and junction box.Solar panel are reliable, virtually maintenance free power supply, designed to operate efficiently in sunlight. By Solar panel, the solar radiant energy is transformed into electrical energy for using. Solar panel, usually be used as one fittings of PV solar system. A set of basic PV solar system is consisted of PV Solar panel, Solar regulator, solar inverter, and storage battery.

Solar panel can be used in roof PV solar systems, PV stations, building, and other electric generation application etc widely.

The mechanical and electrical installation of solar systems should be performed in accordance with all applicable coded; including electrical codes, building coded, and electric utility interconnect requirements.

Requirements may also vary with system voltage, and for DC or AC application.

How to Choose the installation angle of Solar Panel?

Solar Panel installation Mounting site
Solar Panel can be used on land except for corrosive salt area and sulfurous area.

Excluded applications include, but are not limited to, installations where Solar Panel are likely to come in contact with any salt water or where likely to become partially or wholly submerged in fresh or salt water, examples of which include use on boats, docks and buoys. Don’t install modules in a location where it would be immersed in water or continually exposed to water from a sprinkler or fountain etc.

Modules are designed for a maximum allowable design pressure of 50 pounds per square foot, about 2400Pa, which may correspond to a nominal wind speed of approximately 130 km/h in certain circumstances.

Actual maximum allowable wind speed may be influenced by module type, mounting configuration, location, and other factors. In no case should modules be exposed to pressures greater than 50 pounds per square foot of uniformly distributed wind, snow, or other loading.

Not install Solar Panel near naked flame or flammable materials.

When choosing a site, avoid trees, buildings or obstructions. Modules should be mounted to maximize direct exposure to sunlight and to eliminate or minimize shadowing. Even partial shadowing can substantially reduce module and system output. Furthermore, partial shadowing can elevate the shaded portion internal temperature, which may lower output and shorten module life.
Solar Panel Orientation of installations
Modules may be mounted at any angle from a vertical orientation to a horizontal one. The appropriate fixed tilt angle and azimuth orientation should be used in order to maximize the exposure to sunlight.

Incorrect orientation of modules installation will result in loss of power output. Modules connected in series should be installed at same orientation and angle. Different orientation or angle may cause loss of power output due to difference of amount of sunlight exposed to the modules.

In the Northern Hemisphere, Solar Panel should face south, and in the Southern Hemisphere, Solar Panel should face north.
Solar Panel tilt angle
Solar Panel produce the most power when they are pointed directly at the sun. For installations where Solar Panel are mounted to a permanent structure, Solar Panel should be titled for optimum winter performance. As a rule, if the PV system power production is adequate in the winter. It will be satisfactory during the rest of the year. The Solar Panel tilt angle is measured between the Solar Panel and the ground.
Use fasteners to fasten the Solar Panel to the mounting support structure. Solar Panel should be bolted to support structures through mounting holes located in the frame’s back flanges only. Stainless-steel bolts, with nuts, washers, and locks washers, are recommended for module mounting. Creation of additional holes for mounting is not recommended and will invalidate the warranty. Solar Panel should not be mounted by supports at the ends.

Mounting support structure should withstand forces from wind and snowfall pressure etc. Mounting support structure should use proper materials and corrosive treatment.

Installation the Solar Panel should has proper ventilation. A clearance of 4.5 inches (about 115mm) or more behind the Solar Panel is recommended to permit air circulation and cooler solar panel operation. Elevated temperatures lower operating voltage and power, and shorten solar panel lifetime. Clearance of 1/4 inch (6.35mm) or more between solar panel is required to allow for thermal expansion of the frames.

How to wire solar panel on installation ?

1)Blocking diodes

Blocking diodes can prevent nighttime battery discharging caused and prevent solar panel from loss of array output and being damaged or destroyed by reverse current flow.

Blocking diodes should be installed in series with each solar panel or series string to prevent possible back flow of energy through the solar panel when solar panel or strings are connected in parallel or used in conjunction with a battery.
2)Overcurrent protection
Whenever necessary to comply with local codes, use a fuse or circuit breaker, rated for the maximum series fuse rating of the module and the system voltage.

Always fuse the connections at the battery for safety. Refer to the solar panel rating label (on solar panel) for recommended fuse size. Also, refer to the charge controller owners manual.

All electrical components should have ratings equal or greater to the system rating. Do not exceed the maximum allowable system voltage as listed on the solar panel label.

3)Grounding
All solar panel frames should be grounded for safety. The support structure must also be grounded unless they are mechanically connected by nut and bolts to the grounded solar panel.

Attach a separate ground wire to grounding holes on solar panel frame with a self tapping screw. solar panel frame is provided with grounding holes. Stainless-steel bolts, with nuts, washers, and locks washers, are recommended for module grounding. The ground wire should be at least the same size as the electrical conductors, ground wires greater than 10AWG is recommended.

4)solar panel Wiring
solar panel are equipped with factory installed wires and quick connectors. Modules have been designed to be easily interconnected in series.
One solar panel has a pair of male and female waterproof cables and connectors for electrical connection, that are pre-wired inside the junction box. The cables have obvious marks of the positive and the negative.

The connectors at the opposite end of these wires allow easy series connection of adjacent solar panel by firmly inserting the male connector of a solar panel into the female connector of an adjacent solar panel until the connector is fully seated.

For a series electrical connection, should connect positive (+) connector of the first solar panel to the negative (-) connector of the following solar panel. For a parallel electrical connection, should connect positive (+) connector of the first solar panel to the positive (+) connector of the following solar panel.

The cable typically used to interconnect the solar panel should be stranded or solid copper single-conductor type, rated sunlight resistant, for solar panel and solar panel wiring that is exposed to weather, from 12AWG (4.0mm2) up to 14AWG(2.5mm2) gauge copper wire.

The maximum and minimum diameters of the cable that may be used with the cable connector are 8mm and 6mm respectively. A separate return wire or wires may be required to run the positive and negative terminations of the series string of modules to the load. Male and/or female connectors pre-attached to wires may be used at the string terminations for return wire connections and/or for source circuit box terminations. solar panel have bypass diode(s) installed.

How to Maintenance the Solar Panel?

It is not uncommon for a remote site to be checked but once per year. Under most conditions, normal rainfall is sufficient to keep the Solar Panel glass clean.

Clean the glass with a soft cloth using mild detergent and water. Solar Panel that are mounted, fiat ( 0°tilt andle) should be cleaned more often, as they will not self-clean as effectively as Solar Panel mounted at a 15°tilt or greater.

It is advisable to perform periodic inspection of the Solar Panel for damage to glass, backskin, frame and support structure. Check electrical connections for loose connections and corrosion. Check if mounting support structure and modules are loose. Check connections of cables, connectors, and grounding. Change Solar Panel must be the same kind and type, if need. Solar Panel can operate effectively without ever being washed, although removal of dirt from the front glass can increase output. The glass can be washed with a wet sponge or cloth, wear rubber gloves for electrical insulation.

Solar Panel Safety precautions

Solar Panel installation and operation should be performed by qualified personnel only. Children should not be allowed near the solar electric installation.

Avoid electrical hazards when installing, wiring, operating and maintaining the module. Solar Panel produce DC electricity when exposed to light and therefore can produce an electrical shock or burn. Solar Panel produce voltage even when not connected to an electrical circuit or load. Solar Panel produce nearly full voltage when exposed to as little as 5% of full sunlight and both current and power increase with light intensity. Do not touch live parts of cables and connectors. As an added precaution, use insulated tools and rubber gloves when working with Solar Panel in sunlight.

Fall of Solar Panel from high place will cause death, injury or damage. Do not drop Solar Panel or allow objects to fall on Solar Panel, never leave a Solar Panel unsupported or unsecured. If a module should fail, the glass can break a Solar Panel with broken glass cannot be repaired and must not be used.

When installing or working with Solar Panel or wiring, cover module face completely with opaque material to halt production of electricity. Solar Panel have no on/off switch. Solar Panel when exposed to sunlight generate high voltage and are dangerous, Solar Panel can be rendered inoperative only by removing them from sunlight, or by fully covering the front surface with opaque cloth, cardboard, or other completely opaque material, or by working with Solar Panel face down on a smooth, flat surface when installing or maintaining.

Do not artificially concentrate sunlight on the Solar Panel.

Solar Panel can produce higher output than the rated specifications. Industry standard ratings are made at conditions of 1000W/㎡ and 25℃ cell temperature. Reflection from snow or water can increase sunlight and therefore boost current and power. In addition, colder temperatures can substantially increase voltage and power.

Solar Panel are intended for use in terrestrial applications only, thus excluding aerospace or maritime conditions or use with sunlight concentration.

It is recommended that the Solar Panel remains packed in the box until time of installation.

Work only under dry conditions, with a dry Solar Panel and tools, since sparks may be produced, do not install Solar Panel where flammable gases or vapors are present.

Do not drill holes into Solar Panel frame as it will void warranty. Solar Panel ate constructed frame as it will void warranty.
Handled with care, if the front glass is broken or if the polymer backskin is tom, contact with any module surface or the frame can produce electrical shock. Particularly when the Solar Panel is wet, broken or damaged modules must be disposed of properly. Do not disassemble, bend, impact by sharp objects, walk on, and throw or drop etc. keep back surface free from foreign objects. Avoid sharp edges.

Use Solar Panel for its intended function only follows all Solar Panel manufacturers’ instructions. Do not disassemble the module, or remove any part or label installed by the manufacturer. Do not treat the back of the Solar Panel with paint or adhesives.

If not otherwise specified, it is recommended that requirements of the latest local, national or regional electrical codes be followed.

Retain this installation manual for future reference.

Notes
The electrical characteristics are within ±5 percent of the indicated values of Isc, Voc, and Pmax under standard test conditions (irradiance of 100mW/㎝2, AM 1.5 spectrum, and a cell temperature of 25℃(77°F).

Under normal conditions, a photovoltaic Solar Panel is likely to experience conditions that produce more current and/or voltage than reported at standard test conditions. Accordingly, the values of Isc and Voc marked on this module should be multiplied by a factor of 1.25 when determining component voltage ratings, conductor ampacities, fuse sizes, and size of controls connected to the PV output.

Can you switch wood floor panels?

My dining room has a section/strip of badly scratched hard wood flooring thanks to a horrible contractor who dragged all our new kitchen appliances over the floor surface. Would it be possible to swap the damaged panels with better ones which are currently in the middle of the floor? I will be covering the area with a nice oriental rug so the condition of the floor in the center of the room does not matter as much.
The part that is currently damaged will still be visible–it will not be covered by the rug.

You really have to replace it if it does not look good. It’s not that simple though, but can be done. Be sure to replace it with the appropriate flooring type so that it will be properly installed. If you hire someone to install make sure he knows what he’s doing and if you are going to do it yourself read guidelines on installing wood floorings.

How to Get the Right Area Rug for Your Home

Area rugs are a popular choice for adding definition and warmth to any area or room in the house. Choosing the right kind can be challenging, though, because of the multitude of options available today. Also, a good quality area rug can be very expensive, too. So if you want to find the best deal for your home, this article can give you ideas on how to shop for cheap, yet, high quality rugs.

If you want to be able to compare the designs, sizes and prices of different area rugs, you can browse online. You can save more this way, instead of traveling from one store to another while looking for the right kind of area rug to suit your taste.

The first thing to consider when choosing an area rug is to determine the size that would fit the room where you want to put it. Guessing the measurement of the area will not be enough if you want to cover the chosen space properly. Use measurement tools to get the precise and exact dimensions. For dining rooms, measure your table first, then add about twenty inches to the size to accommodate your dining chairs.

It is also vital to know what kind of shape you want for the rug. Round rugs are excellent for a dining room table that has a circular shape. For your family room, you can choose a big rectangular rug, which will define the seating area. Long runners will work best in hallways, typically to add more pattern and color to a normally plain area. Consider that the runners or rugs are not only coverings for the floor, but also an aesthetic enhancement to any floor space.

The next thing to consider when you are shopping for area rugs is style. If your preference leans towards modern eclectic, there is a lot of contemporary style rugs that come in unique geometric designs, funky patterns and bold colors. There are also braided rugs that suits a country home best. If you want to go for the traditional taste, you can choose those with Oriental prints, floral designs, and tropical patterns.

If you are the kind who wants to make your own statement in your choices, you can easily show it in your choice for area rugs. There are designs that simply complements the entire room, or just fade as a background design. A lot of rugs are wool that are of muted shades and the patterns are subtle. If you are looking for a striking focal point for any of your rooms, choose those with bright and happy colors, or even those with bold designs. These could be attention grabbers, and could present a good opportunity to open conversations during parties.

There are many online retailers of area rugs. You can search for them online, and check the selection so that you can come up with a very good decision. If you want to find really cheap ones, try the online auction sites. There is sure to be one for you there.

Is it true that Caucasian genes are stronger than Asian Genes?

My dad is full vietnamese

My grandma is full vietnamese and my grandpa is Caucasian so my mom’s a ‘Hapa’/half asian. And they had me.. so I am a quarter white. Yet a lot of people say that i look ‘oriental’ half asian half white…. Some people jokely asked if I was white

My mom has noticeable green/brown hazel eyes, caucasian nose, and eyes.

My hair is dark dark brown. My skin is pale. I have a caucasian nose, mouth, face shape, basically around the bottom area of my face. But my eyes are asian-shaped. They are brown eyes with a TINY tint of green.

But my brother looks full asian though. He has black hair, asian eyes, dark brown – almost black eyes, tanned skin, but a Caucasian nose…

which gene is stronger?

Well. I’ve seen plenty of half white/half asian kids and they tend to look more Caucasian.

How Oriental Rugs are Made

Creating an Oriental rug is a work of great patience. Out of plan, whim, necessity, or other, gathering and processing of basic raw materials for any hand knotted rug is done with foresight of a finely finished work of woven art.

Each skein of pile material dyed to perform.  At times as consistent as possible: others to place emphasis on abrash for specific colors.  Soon the material is to be tied into knots, then severed to continue the weaving process and pile.  Each knot is assigned to warp threads according to color and motif.  The weaver slowly and methodically builds upon each preceding knot, while the rows rise within the frame of the loom.

Distinguishable semblence becomes apparent as the arrangement of each hand tied knot fills space.  At times, the weaver places single arbitrary knot, or mistaken motif to hint to the hand knotted nature.  Locked in place, each is a represention of skill and time for which the finished product will come to reflect through unparalleled beauty and superior longevity.

The delicate and labourous task of weaving is then completed, yielding perfection within imperfection.  The carpet is then cut from the loom, pile trimmed, washed and finished.  The unique approach by which raw materials are gathered, selected, spun, dyed, woven, finished and trimmed may never be accurately expressed or emulated by machines.  Especially in instances for unusually large rugs and fine palace carpets such as those from Kerman or Tabriz, which are notable weaving areas in Iran.  Centuries old weaving techniques and traditions may only belong, and be experienced by those who weave, and those who own.

Some Facts on Home Flooring, Carpeting and Rugs

Any space, whether residential or commercial, is immediately enhanced by the appropriate choice of flooring, carpeting and rugs. Conversely, the wrong flooring, carpeting and rugs can ruin the look of a room even if the rest of the interior décor has been well designed. Furthermore, the wrong type of flooring, carpeting and rugs not suited to the function of an area may even pose dangers such as slippage. You cannot, therefore, take your choice of flooring, carpeting and rugs for granted.

When choosing your flooring, your options include hardwood, tile, vinyl and laminate.

There are two types of hardwood flooring. One is solid hardwood flooring which is bought either in planks or strips. Every plank or strip is made of an actual solid piece of wood. This is sanded and customized with your choice of finish. The other type is engineered hardwood flooring. This is made of several layers of hardwood sheets which are laminated together with their grains in different directions. The typical number of layers range from three to five. Because of its engineered design, this type of hardwood flooring is actually more stable and durable than solid hardwood flooring. It can even resist moisture and can be used in damp areas such as basements.

Both solid and engineered hardwood flooring need proper sealing. This prevents easy absorption of wet spills and the development of stains. Properly sealed solid or engineered hardwood flooring can be maintained easily with weekly mopping and regular vacuuming.

There are four types of tile flooring: natural stone tiles, ceramic tiles, glass tiles and metal tiles.

Natural stone tiles also come in four variants: granite, slate, marble and limestone. Granite is the strongest and also has the highest density, making it resistant to moisture and the growth of bacteria. It is therefore recommended for kitchens and high traffic areas. Slate is also considered durable and strong, with a slip resistant natural texture ideal for wet areas such as pool sides and patios. Marble is beautiful but is recommended for use in floors with less traffic, mostly indoors. Limestone is soft and is, therefore, mostly used for decorative purposes.

Ceramic tiles have three types: glazed ceramic tiles, unglazed ceramic tiles and ceramic mosaic tiles. They are durable and can be used in wet areas such as pool sides and bathrooms.

Glass and metal tiles are not used by themselves as flooring but only as design accents.

There are three types of vinyl flooring which can be bought in sheets or tiles: no-wax, urethane and enhanced urethane vinyl. No-wax vinyl flooring is the oldest type and the least durable. Urethane vinyl flooring has been improved to have higher resistance to staining and scuffing. The best choice, however, is enhanced urethane vinyl flooring which is not only resistant to staining and scuffing but also to moisture and damage from most household chemicals. It can even be used in bathrooms. Maintenance is easy with just sweeping or mopping. Vinyl flooring comes in various colors and designs, with some designs even looking like hardwood and natural stone.

Laminate flooring is similar to engineered hardwood because it is made up of four layers laminated together. Various designs can look like hardwood, natural stone and tile but are actually more durable at a lower price.

Another choice in flooring treatment in carpeting. Carpet pile or fiber yarns come as cut pile, loop pile or cut & loop pile. The most popular choices in carpets are broadloom carpets and wool berbers.

Rugs may be layered on top of any type of flooring, and even on top of carpeting, depending on your interior design scheme. More elegant interiors usually opt for Oriental rugs. You may also want to use runner rugs, area rugs and round rugs.

Make sure you choose the most fitting flooring, carpeting and rugs for your space in order to enhance both the aesthetics and function of your space.

How to replace wall to wall rugs with area rugs?

Now that we ripped up the wall to wall, we want to use runners and an oriental style rug going up the stairs. The upstairs hall is a very irregular shape. Any principles for making area rugs hang together?

With the area rugs, simply put them on the floor.

There’s a little more to the runner, tho. I’d staple that in place using a heavy-duty stapler. Otherwise it will slip and slide all over the place and come away from the stairs. (Trip hazard.)

I would staple the runner not only to the tops of the steps, but also to the risers of the steps to keep it snug against the steps.

Flooring comes in hardwood, tile, vinyl and laminate.

Harwood flooring can be of solid hardwood or engineered hardwood. Solid hardwood can be bought in strips or flanks. Engineered hardwood flooring, on the other hand, is made of three to five layers of hardwood bound with laminate. Engineered hardwood is more stable and more moisture resistant than solid hardwood. If installed and sealed properly, both solid and engineered hardwood flooring are stain resistant and do not absorb spills. They only have to be mopped and vacuumed for maintenance.

Tile flooring can be availed of in natural stone, ceramic, glass and metal.

Natural stone tiles can be made of limestone, marble, slate or granite. The softest among these is limestone which is usually used for decorative purposes only. Marble is also not very strong and is suggested for areas with minimal human traffic. Slate is found to be more durable and is slip resistant even in areas that are often wet, such as poolsides and patios. Granite is considered the most durable and dense. It can, therefore, take on high traffic. It also resists moisture and bacteria.

Ceramic tiles can be glazed, unglazed or in mosaic form, and is also durable. Glass and metal tiles, however, are only best used as accents.

Vinyl flooring can be availed of in no-wax, urethane and enhanced urethane variants, and can be bought as tiles or as sheets. The oldest variant is no-wax vinyl. It is not very durable, though. Urethane vinyl resists stains and scuffs better and requires low maintenance. Enhanced urethane vinyl is the newest variant and is most resistant not only to scuffs and stains but also moisture and harsh household chemicals. Enhanced urethane vinyl can be used even in bathrooms and only needs sweeping or mopping for maintenance. It comes in various designs, some of which look like hardwood or natural stone flooring.

Laminate flooring can also look like hardwood, natural stone or tile but is more durable and, ironically, more affordable. It is resistant to moisture, scratches, stains and fading.

On top of your flooring, you can choose to add carpets such as broadloom carpets and wool berbers, or rugs. Carpeting may also be layered with rugs. You can choose from among Oriental rugs, runner rugs, area rugs and round rugs.

With the expert help of the sales personnel from Carpet One Floor & Home, you can surely make the right choice in flooring, carpeting and rugs. The Craft of Carpet Weaving

The introduction of tapestry in 3rd century BC led to the development of the textile industry. Greeks and Romans considered it as part of their artisanship, producing elaborately woven portraits made of colored fibers and stitches. These have further enhanced the art of weaving for clothing and other tailored materials, including carpets and rugs.

In modern carpet and rug manufacturing, weavers employ various techniques in making carpets. Basically, there are four techniques in carpet-making. These are: hand-knotting, hand-tufting, hand-weaving and braiding. These weaving processes have revolutionized the tapestry industry, expanding the levels of expertise of weavers and carpet-makers.

Weavers who create hand-knotted carpets use “clipped ends” of yarn for the carpet surface. These clipped ends look like soft spikes on the carpet which absorb water and moisture. These are tied in crossways to warps, and are separated by multiple picks of wefts. The foundations of these carpets are composed of interchanging series of plain weave. Weavers use different hand-knotting techniques. These are the Turkish knot (Ghiordes), Persian knot (Senneh), Jufti knot, and the Spanish knot.

On the other hand, hand-tufted carpets are made by gluing yarns and weaving piles of cloths together. The “tufts” serve as the carpet’s foundation, attached to a pile of secondary cloth covering. These are woven to a final cloth covering which will serve as the carpet’s surface. The loops of the carpet are sheared to create a fluffy pile. In carpet cleaning, Rome carpet services employ specific cleaning techniques to ensure the tufts and piles of yarn and cloth are in good condition.

Moreover, hand-woven carpets are created by using a different loom. This is intricately sewn to make a flat weave. Unlike hand-tufted carpets, flat weaves lack piles. Flat weaves are also called Kilim, Soumak, Jajim, and Palas. Hand-woven carpets are made up of yarn in various colors and shades. In Rockmart, carpet cleaning of hand-woven carpets entails the use of complex vacuums to get rid of the dust and bad odor accumulated by the carpet.

Conversely, carpet cleaning (Rockmart, Georgia has excellent carpet cleaning service centers) for braided carpets is easier than hand-tufted and hand-woven carpets. This is because materials used in braiding are usually exotic supplies like jutes, hemps and sisals. Weavers find it easier to modify patterns and designs for braided carpets.

How Make Decisions on Flooring, Carpeting and Rugs

All sorts of residential units, such as condominium units, apartments, townhouses and even palatial mansions, use flooring, carpets and rugs. This is possible across the board because flooring, carpets and rugs come in various styles, from the most basic to the most opulent. They can be used to coordinate with any interior design look, from shabby chic to modern minimalist to ornate elegance. In fact, you can change the look of any room in the house without changing your furniture or paint if you simply change your flooring, carpets and rugs.

The aesthetic impact of flooring or carpets and rugs is indeed undeniable. More than that, however, flooring, carpets and rugs are also functional. It is actually very important that the appropriate flooring, carpets and rugs are used in relation to the function of an area. Otherwise, you could actually create hazards for people. Fortunately, the available options in flooring, carpets and rugs include not just a wide variety of looks but a wide choice of functional characteristics as well. When in doubt, you can always ask for professional advice from your dealer.

In the area of flooring choices, most people seem to have a marked preference for hardwood, tile, vinyl and laminate flooring.

When considering hardwood flooring, you will have to weigh your options between solid hardwood flooring and engineered hardwood flooring. You can buy solid hardwood flooring in strips or planks that will then need to be sanded then stained. Solid hardwood flooring is customized by the customer with his preferred color for staining. Engineered hardwood flooring is created by fusing together and laminating several layers of real wood. Both solid hardwood flooring and engineered hardwood flooring should be properly installed and sealed in order to be protected from spills and stains. Simple mopping and vacuuming done regularly will maintain both types of hardwood flooring.

When considering tile flooring, you will have to weigh your options among natural stone, ceramic mosaic, glass and metal tiles.

Natural stone tile flooring comes in the form of granite, slate, marble and limestone tiles. Granite tile is the strongest and most dense, is antibacterial and moisture resistant. It is the best choice for kitchens and areas with high traffic. Slate tile is also strong and is slip resistant even when wet. It is the best choice for bathrooms and pool sides. Marble tile is slippery and should not be used in areas with high traffic. Limestone tile is soft and is best used mostly as an accent tile for decorative purposes, much like glass and metal tiles.

When considering vinyl flooring, you will have to weigh your options among no-wax vinyl, urethane vinyl and enhanced urethane vinyl. Enhanced urethane vinyl flooring is the latest innovation and is therefore superior to the other two. It resists moisture and harsh household chemicals, and can even be used in bathrooms. Only regular sweeping and mopping are necessary for maintenance. Vinyl flooring is available in many designs and colors, including some that mimic the look of natural stone or hardwood flooring.

When considering laminate flooring, you only have to choose the design and color you prefer. There are also available designs that mimic the look of natural stone flooring or hardwood flooring. Ironically, laminate flooring is more durable while being less costly. After all, laminate flooring resists moisture, warping, staining, scratching and fading.

Instead of flooring you can use carpeting. You could also layer carpets over flooring. Your choices include broadloom carpets and wool berbers, among others.

Rugs can also be used over either flooring or carpeting as runner rugs, area rugs and round rugs. Oriental rugs are the most popular.

There is a wide choice of flooring, carpets and rugs at Carpet One Floor & Home.
