red and blue rugs
What will get red Koolaid out of a carpet?
It is a huge area rug mostly dark blue and red big koolaid stain
I thought about about spilling koolaid on the whole thing
If it’s just happened (probably too late now, but maybe next time!) you should get the stain wet with some plain water (soak the stain), and then blot it up with a towel or paper towels. Repeat until the stain is lifted – this works with many things (coffee, tea, etc), and on an area rug it’s even easier, since you don’t have to worry about the padding underneath carpet. You can also try this with a dried stain, but it may take more effort and not work as well. You can also apply a detergent solution, making sure whatever you’re using doesn’t contain bleach (try Dawn or Joy), with about 1/4 teaspoon of detergent with 1 quart of water, and do the same rinsing/blotting process. You can also try this with plain white vinegar. There’s also something you can get called Red-Ex, which is supposed to remove red stains.

dark red rugs
Can someone with some interior decorating sense help pick out my curtain color?
I am looking to buy curtains for my living room. Most of my furniture is of a light color – beige or light wood. Our floors are also light wood. We have no rug. Our walls are light yellow. And we have a moderate sized light wood-framed poster that is mainly of a blue-ish color. I would like to create a warmer, more homey feeling to the room. What are you suggestions for the color? I’m thinking maybe a dark green or a dark red?? Help from those interior designers out there??
Take a pic of your room and go to HGTV.com ( message boards or forum) and ask the same question and upload the pic– There are a slew of people on that forum that will help you figure it out

red and blue rug
I have a dark red rug with white walls, birch furniture and a blue comforter. What are some good color schemes
I Just moved into a new house. My bedroom has a dark red rug, almost burgundy, with white walls, and birch wood furniture from Ikea. I have two windows next to my bed. My comforter is a dark blue with white stripes from Nautica. My questions are:
1.What color can I paint my walls to match the furniture/redrug?
2.What are some ideas for curtains and decorations?
3.What are some themes/color schemes I can redecorate with?
Any other general knowledge on redecorating under these circumstances would be vey helpful as well. Thanks!
-Dan S
You already have a red, white and blue color scheme going on – you can keep the walls white and add yellow accessories to make it a primary color scheme of red, yellow, blue. Accessories might be all in a nautical theme, like a picture of a boat on the water with a yellow hull, a yellow ceramic lamp, etc.
You can ignore the rug, paint the walls some kind of new/spa/gray type tone that looks good with your comforter and get a very modern, simple zen look.
You can paint the walls a red color that blends with your carpet, and replace your comforter with a solid white or off white, and get a print that is abstract red, white, black and a touch of your wood color.
Tie the colors together with a nicely framed print that uses your colors, repeats a pattern like the stripes, and has the same feel as your room = modern, I’m guessing.

dark red rug
Are browns, blacks, beiges and reds good together?
We are getting our own place and choosing colors. We chose black solid surface countertops, salem maple cabinets, a rustic brown/beige/gray flooring, light beige walls, a saddle/leather light-colored beigey carpet (multi). We have a black table from Pier 1 that has the red underneath, want black couches, have black entertainment center we made, a dark brown and beigey rug for living room, and a type of red rug for under the dining table. What do you suggest to do with these colors, what to change, what to add, what to take away, how to tie it in altogether? I’m having a really hard time with this and want LOTS of different suggestions and internet references PLEASE!
Sounds beautiful so far. May I suggest accenting with more of the reds you have. Pillows, throws, vases, wall art, collectibles are all good ways to tie rooms together. Just make sure when doing each room that as you add red it is the same shade as what is already there. Reds especially don’t look good mixed. If you started a room in a blue red stay with that. Or if you started with an orange red stay with orange reds. You can go lighter or darker but stay within the colour value. If you need help with it go to: http://www.behr.com/behrx/index.jsp
and click on the explore color tab.

rugs white
Is it possible to cover blue carpet with white flakoti rugs? Will it work?
I don’t know if you mean cover them completely, or use them like area rugs, but you can. I have a gray carpet in my living room and in the center of the living room, I have a white flakoti rug, it’s right in the middle of the couch and chairs, on top of the gray carpet. It looks great! No one that has come here has said anything negative, in fact I’ve gotten nothing but compliments about the way my living room looks.
So many design shows have been stressing to put area rugs on top of rugs now. I see SO many of this saying this over and over again and it’s YOUR house, YOU have to be happy and if it makes you happy to do it, go for it! I do have to warn you though, they are a pain to vacuum! It gets caught, so be careful with that, but it IS SO worth the stress because they are SO nice and add to the look and design!
I say go for what makes you happy!
