I have a very small room, and I’m thinking of painting it a light blue. My floors are a natural wood, very light, but I like the idea of having a small rug down, just to keep my feet from getting too cold. Would the rug make any difference in trying to make my room seem bigger?

A very small rug will make the room look smaller because your vision will “narrow in” on the rug. When you want your room to look bigger, have 10-12 inches of floor showing all around the rug. This will trick the eye and visually expand the room; because the floor is “extending” out from the rug it will visually stretch the room.
