The pen is BiC Round Stic with a brass medium or fine point and with tungsten carbide ball. I rubbed the ink on the carpet try to remove it, only to make it worse <= ( what brands are good to remove PEN INK completely or household items?

Do you have any Dollar General or Family Dollar stores in your area? They sell a spray cleaner called Awesome. It is the best spray cleaner I’ve ever used and it will remove ink from carpet.
I know it’s to late now but if you ever get ink on clothing or carpet spray it with hair spray (if available) immediately. It will keep the ink from setting in and make it easier to remove.

Selecting An Antique Persian Rug For A Dining Room

Placing an antique Persian rug in a dining rooms drastically chances the space.  Instead of a place to eat, an antique rug turns a dining room into a place to gather, to talk, to enjoy the company of family and friends.  An antique Persian rug makes a dining room into another family room and a place to linger.

Selecting an antique rug for a dining room is different from choosing one for elsewhere in the home.  Antique Persian rugs lend themselves well for dining room use as they have a high knot count, making them more durable than rugs with lower knot counts.  Persian rugs have higher knot counts because of the way they are made, and also due to the intensity of the designs.  The more design elements on a rug, the more knots are necessary to create the details.  Even if a rug does not have a dense, intricate design, ask the antique rug dealer about the knot count and fiber content of any rug under consideration.

Fiber content is also very important for a rug that will undergo heavy use.  The vast majority of antique Persian rugs, and new Persian rugs, are made of wool.  Wool is a wonderful material for dining room rugs as wool is hearty.  It cleans easily, withstands wear and tear, and hold shape and color beautifully.  Wool rugs should be vacuumed regularly to remove dirt, sand, and other loose particles.  If babies or children will be eating in the dining room, it is a good idea to put down a splat matt to protect the rug until the children are big enough to not make large messes when they eat.

Size is very important when selecting an antique Persian rug for the dining room.  The rug should be large enough to accommodate the table and chairs, even when the chairs are pulled out with people sitting in them.  A quick rule of thumb for finding the right size rug is that a table with 4 chairs needs a 6 foot by 9 foot rug to accommodate it.  However, tables differ drastically in size, so it is a very good idea to measure the table and chairs and the size of the room, and have that information on hand at the antique rug dealer showroom.

While size and composition are the technical considerations of antique Persian rug shopping, color and design matter only in that they please the owner.  Some rug shoppers prefer small, intricate designs and bright colors, while others prefer open designs in muted colors, or any combination thereof.  Many antique rug dealers offer plans where rugs may be taken home on approval.  Ask if the dealer offers this option, and know what the terms of return are.  If a rug doesn’t work out as well in the dining room as it seemed to have in the showroom, return it and try something different.  Making note of what didn’t work will help the antique rug dealer help the customer find a rug that will turn the dining room into a comfortable space to linger.

Using Oriental Tapestries To Make Your Home Interesting

Usually those things that we use to decorate an oriental style home are very colorful and ornate in color and design. Oriental tradition touches can be seen throughout these pieces. These pieces can be sometimes found on walls in the form of artwork, displayed like statues, or other ornamental pieces, even artistic designs can be seen in the pieces of furniture placed around ones house.

In the oriental tradition, display of artwork is done usually in a set of three panel pieces. There is variation in what is on display on the panels, but mostly it is very bright and traditional. Ample use of gold, red, and black are to be seen in this type of artwork. In the oriental tradition, large, wall-sized fans are also used for decoration. The displayed artwork does vary, but the colors usually are mostly similar to those used in panel paintings. Some of the artwork may include oriental traditional women with hair drawn back, wearing conventional clothing, similarly for the males too. Plenty of art works also display a mythological creature, the dragon, often seen in most oriental designs, breathing fire.

Most oriental decorated homes have white colors on the walls. Red, gold, and black colors are mostly reserved for the pieces, which are complimentary. It is important that the Oriental home have clean lines, so the walls enhance this atmosphere by being painted either in white or light beige colors. Such walls are lined at the base by wood grained shoe molding and tidy around doorways of the house. This adds to the clean lines effect displayed all over the house.

You will hardly find anything useless. Most things would be well chosen with great taste. It is not necessary that all Oriental pieces should be red, black, or gold. There are many in yellows, blacks, and blues also, but afore mentioned ones are more traditional. Traditional colors can be found in many of the stuffs that are strewn around the home. The few chosen ones will compliment one another. Excessive plants are a rarity. Orchids are a popular choice for Oriental style of decorating, though green plants are appropriate also. It is difficult to maintain an orchid, so many might choose simple ivy instead.

Other than fans and panels, artwork, compliments the color schemes of the knickknacks on display. This compliments the golden of a statue or the red sprinkled all over the dinner plate. Too much color in any artwork is avoided; it is usually simple, as everything that has been discussed before.

The Oriental home is a clean and harmonious whole displaying cleanliness through undisturbed lines all over the home. Clutter is kept away in such homes. The pieces show great taste. The home become a piece of artwork by itself and brings about peace and serenity to those inhabiting it.
